Eskaton historic (1970 - 1985)
Eskaton formed in 1970 in the Paris region to create Zeuhl / Rock music close
to the bands of the rock scene of that time: Magma, Triangle, Ange, with lyrics in French. In 1973, the group reinforced the power of his music by adding two female vocal (Paule Kleynnaert and
Amara Tahir), a keyboard (Erik Guillaume) and a guitar (André Bernardi).
After gaining an excellent reputation as a stage performer, the band released its first single "Post-Atomic Music" in 1979. In November of the same year the band recorded "4 Vision" which was then
published only as an audio cassette in the United States. The band was composed of eight musicians: Amara Konig and Paule Kleynnaert (vocals), Alain Blesing (guitar), André Bernardi (bass), Gilles
Rozenberg (Synth), Eric Guillaume (Fender Piano), Marc Rozenberg (Fender Piano), Gérard Konig (Drums). This album is dominated by André Bernardi's molten bass in a swift and hypnotic style.
It was only in 1980 that "Ardeur" was published. Finally, reinforced by its success, the group decides in 1981 to release "4 Vision". Then came the recording of "Fiction" in 1983 and "I'Care" in
1985, the last album, but which will never be published.
Eskaton R.I.P. (1994-95)
Eskaton has not existed for a while, except the echoes of connoisseurs on the
Web.
After a brief period of reconstruction under the name of the last album "I'Care", a band is created composed of André Bernardi (guitar), Marc Rozenberg (drums) for the original members, with the
addition of two musicians from Musique Noise band : Frédéric Huyn (bass) and Denis Levasseur (keyboards), completed by a jazz saxophonist.
This line-up will produce one or two beautiful titles that will never be published.
Eskaton Remake (2003 - 2005)
It is under the impulse of Alain Lebon and its label SOLEIL-ZEUHL
(Soleilzeuhl.com) that Marc Rozenberg and André Bernardi start the re-masterisations of all the productions of the late Eskaton. In the
order of "4 Visions", "Ardeur" and "Fiction", there will be a splendid re-edition with the supervision of Udi Koomran, (sound mastering) and Thierry Moreau (CD cover
designs).
This period, when the group is not really reconstructed, may be understood as a
real period of creation, each album benefiting from a complete renewal.
Note the latest re-edition of sumptuous "4 Visions" vinyl LP in
2013.
Eskaton Renew (2011)
Finally dates of the third millennium appear: in 2011, Eskaton is
reformed around Marc Rozenberg (bass - chant) and André Bernardi (definitively returned back to the guitar),.
The two companions will need, not less than the support of three of the
musicians of the band 'Musique Noise': Jean-Philippe Gallet (Chant - keyboards), Denis Levasseur (Keyboards) and Philippe Zarka (Drums).
October 2013: Denis Levasseur leaves the band to fully participate to his other
musical experiences.
This period means the end of the group's change: the energy is the same than in
the time of the origine , the lyrics are stronger, but, drawing lessons from the past, the impact is immediate, direct, without reference other than rhythm, percussion and the lyrics. Maybe a form of
slam-rock or hip-rock.
Nearly three years were necessary to find the right settings and for the group
to produce a test CD, 'Miroirs'.
